Pokémon GO Remote Raids on PokeTrade

Remote raids let you join raid battles with trainers around the world without being physically present. This guide covers how remote raids work, what each tier offers, and tips for finding and hosting raids.

How Remote Raids Work

Remote raids were introduced to let trainers participate in raid battles from anywhere in the world. You can join a raid hosted by a trainer on the other side of the planet, using Remote Raid Passes that you can purchase from the in-game shop.

  • Remote Raid Passes — These special passes cost 300 coins (or 100 coins for a single remote raid pass from weekly boxes) and let you join any raid within walking range of your actual location, up to approximately 100km away.
  • Host benefits — The trainer who hosts a raid can invite up to 5 remote trainers to join, making it easier to beat high-tier raids.
  • Reward changes — Remote raiders get slightly reduced rewards compared to in-person participants, but the trade-off is convenience and access to raids worldwide.

Raid Tiers Explained

Each raid tier offers different challenges and rewards. Understanding what each tier provides helps you decide which raids to target.

  • 1-Star Raids — Easy solo challenges featuring Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Pikachu. Great for new players or quick catches.
  • 3-Star Raids — Moderate difficulty raids with Pokémon like Alakazam, Machamp, and Gengar. Usually doable with 2-3 players.
  • 5-Star Raids — High-tier raids featuring legendary Pokémon like Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza. Require coordination and typically 5+ players.
  • Mega Raids — Feature Mega Evolved Pokémon with increased difficulty. Mega Evolutions provide valuable Mega Energy for powering up your own Pokémon.
  • Shadow Raids — Special raids featuring Shadow Pokémon purified from Team GO Rocket. These require special Shadow Raid Passes and offer unique rewards.

Finding and Hosting Raids

PokeTrade makes it easy to find raid groups or host your own. Whether you need extra trainers for a tough raid or want to invite others to your hosted raids, the platform connects you with the community.

  • Browse active raids — See what raids are currently being hosted near you or globally. Filter by tier to find the Pokémon you want to catch.
  • Host your own raid — Found a rare Pokémon at a nearby gym? Host a raid and invite remote trainers to join. You get a bonus reward for successfully completing a raid with remote participants.
  • Coordinate timing — Most raids have a limited window (typically 45 minutes from when the raid egg hatches). Check the raid end time and coordinate with participants to ensure everyone can join.
  • Check boss counters — Before joining a raid, look up the best counters for the raid boss to ensure your team is prepared. Type advantage and weather boosts matter.
